When I first saw the previews for the movie Avatar, all I could think was that it looked like a video game starring bright blue peeps. I wasn’t entirely wrong, but the movie was still pretty cool to see.
As if you didn’t know, the film centers around U.S. soldiers invading an alien planet in order to acquire valuable stones. One of the soldiers falls for one of the natives, and he’s torn between the two worlds.
Sound familiar? I thought the story was just like Pocahontas, while I’ve also heard comparisons to FernGully: The Last Rainforest and Star Wars.
So, the story’s boring, and at almost 3 hours, it’s way too long.
But it is amazing to see director James Cameron’s use of special effects. I did not see the movie in 3-D, but everyone I’ve talked to has said the film is phenomenal in 3-D. Just don’t expect to be blown away by the mediocre plot.
